Are Women Part of the Good News?
Epiphany 2022
The Episcopal Church Sunday readings follow the Revised Common Lectionary. We are currently in Year C. The Rev. Wilda Gafney wrote an alternative lectionary. She calls it Year W.
Wilda Gafney is a Hebrew Biblical scholar and Episcopal priest. She writes “What does it look like to tell the Good News through the stories of women who are often on the margins of scripture and often set up to represent bad news? How is the story of God told when stories of women’s brutalization and marginalization are moved from the margins” and held in tension with the Bible’s heroes? She wanted to focus on women’s stories.
Join us Wednesdays at 7 pm on Zoom for a lively discussion starting January 19th. The readings don’t always match our Sunday readings. Bring a Bible and an open mind. These are stand-alone sessions. Join as you are able.
