In the Diocese and State of New Jersey, we are continuing the reparations work in earnest. This work has also led us to partner with faith-based community organizations to advocate for the passage of two bills (A938/S386) in the NJ legislature that calls for a Reparations Study. The group is called the NJ Faith Allies for Reparations: Say the Word.

As part of the ongoing education and engagement for the Diocese and the NJ Faith Allies for Reparation, we are planning to host two separate forums entitled “Tubman and Tutu: The Struggle for Reparative Justice” on Tuesday, March 29 and Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at 7:00 pm.

The March 29th event will focus on the bicentennial anniversary of Harriet Tubman and will feature a Harriet Tubman re-enactor, a historical presentation from Dr. Christopher Fisher

(The College of New Jersey) and brief remarks from the Harriet Tubman Museum.

The April 5th event will focus on the life of Archbishop Desmond Tutu and will feature a musical interlude by the Rev. Lester Mackenzie, a historical presentation by the Rev. Dr. Michael Battle (General Theological Seminary) and brief remarks from ANC affiliates (Ms. Rosita Johnson and Mr. Godfrey Sithole).

Join us for these important events and please share this information widely with your network.

Click here to register (not required but will provide you with the Zoom link for the forum).
