I'm New Here!
Hello, there!
Whether you’re new to St. Francis or are just checking out our website, let’s start by giving you a hearty and heartfelt welcome. Thank you for being here – we’re so very happy you can spend a few minutes learning about the essentials of St. Francis Church – a place many of our members call their St. Francis Family.
In a nutshell:
Our church and parish hall buildings are physically accessible to everyone. And everyone may participate in our worship services.
.
NO prior religious experience is necessary to worship with us. When you arrive for a service, an usher will give you a bulletin that contains all the words, bible readings, and songs that the congregation needs. Plus, Rev. Ayden cues everyone to sit, stand, or kneel, as able.
The service is actually in two parts: 1) the Liturgy of the Word and 2) Eucharist (Holy Communion). During the Liturgy of the Word, we listen to a few bible readings, the Gospel, and a sermon (don’t panic – Rev. Ayden keeps them short 😉). During Holy Communion we bring our gifts to God in thanksgiving, and we share in the bread and wine transformed into the body and blood of Christ.
Did we mention that we like to SING? Our Music Director, Rachel, and our Choir lead the way in praising God in song. From contemporary preludes & postludes, to our traditional service music from our Blue Hymnal, and even to inspiring hymns from our African hymnal (Lift Every Voice and Sing) music is an important part of our worship service.
We have fun! And fellowship, which is the church wonky way of saying we hang out together just to socialize, and it usually involves food. We have coffee and snacks after service, parish picnics, a St. Pat’s Dinner, Empanada sales, a Women’s Christmas Party, and much, much more!
If you are church wonky, St. Francis belongs to the Episcopal Church, a Christian, multinational denomination. We proudly stand tall with one foot in the Protestant tradition and the other in the Catholic tradition. We adhere to Apostolic succession, the Nicene Creed, and one Baptism. We celebrate the holy sacraments of Baptism, Holy Communion, Confirmation, Confession (corporate), Marriage, Ordination, and Anointing of the Sick or Dying. Please contact Rev. Ayden if you wish to receive any of the sacraments.
